On Time

What if we didn't organize our lives around when (time) and put our emphasis on who, or what, or where. We could agree to meet but just not say when. And then one day we run in to each other and we smile and are not the least surprised. Our agreement is complete without the time parameter. We talk and laugh and enjoy each other's company with no time restriction or expectation of when it will end because time does not control the shape or direction of our lives. No one is late, no one is early, no one is disappointed.

I'm sure this makes most people squirm (me too) because we've tied ourselves so irrevocably to the past and the future that we would be addled without our sense of the passage of time.

There's a book call Einstein's Dream about ways of looking at time. It's very short but fascinating and somewhat liberating, as well.

So, let's agree to meet...
