Making cookies

My goddaughter Andrea and I made cookies today. She's 7 and she's small for her size.

Anyway, I made the rookie mistake of telling her yesterday that we would make cookies today. As Einstein would have told you and children know this intuitively, the present, past, and future are all the same. It's like when you're traveling in a car with kids and they keep asking "Are we there yet?" Why wouldn't we be?

Well, after Andrea asked me several thousand times if it was time to make the cookies, the future and the present finally collided and we made some delightful lemon, poppy seed cookies with lemon curd in the center.

Next time she'll know we're making cookies when she sees me reaching for the cookie sheet and not before.

Nice little story. I used to love having Kemie help make cookies.
