Multiverse
As I ponder the multiverse, like you do, I'm enheartened by the possibilities and realities of our existence. This morning I had breakfast, but what if I hadn't? That's a real possibility and that's a different universe. How do I know this to be true? Well, there have been many days and universes when I didn't have breakfast.
What really blows me away, is that there are many universes where I don't exist, I was never born. I'm sure some of my ex wives would have preferred one of those.
It might be argued that eating breakfast or not hardly constitutes a major shift in the direction, purpose and end result of my life. Yet, when one considers the hundreds of decisions I make everyday, it's easy to see a plethora of outcomes, or different universes. Now multiply that times everyday of my life and that times every person who has ever lived. Multiverse.
Later today I may or may not go to the grocery store. There are many universes where I have a car accident during this trip. There are, additionally, many universes where I die today. Of course, I'm rooting for a better outcome.
One of the reasons I like the multiverse theory is that it offers a positive way to imagine and even create a universe that provides all creatures with freedom, equality and opportunity. Mainly, because that universe already exists.
Of course, the universe where I'm a conservative bigot also exists. I better remember to eat breakfast.
